Maybe we just don’t shake hands this year yeah? (so many fun ways to greet each other, jazz hands perhaps?)

Use common sense precautions like frequent hand washing and not coughing on our friends.

FAQs

Is the Urban Librarians Conference still happening?

Yes, but on September 11th 2020. Given the current recommendations on travel and large gatherings we are unable to meet on May 1. Please keep an eye out for ULU online events as we work to help our community meet and support each other during this difficult time.

What precautions will the Urban Librarians Conference be taking to prepare for the coronavirus?

The organizers are opening and maintaining communication with the staff of Brooklyn Public Library. In addition, we are cutting off registration at its current level in case we are still in a position where we need to maintain social distancing in September.

If I decide not to come to the Urban Librarians Conference, can I get a refund?

Yes. We understand that plans are very much in the air right now, and want to be as supportive as we can.

**Everyone who has already registered for May 1 will be automatically registered for September 11.**

In the event that you are ill, please contact the organizers and we will happily transfer your registration to next year’s conference.

What should I do if I suspect someone has coronavirus?

Unless you are a trained medical professional, there is no reason for suspicion. Wash your hands frequently and cover your cough.

Someone looks like they may come from a country that was mentioned as having many cases of coronavirus. Can I say something to them about it?

No. We are a welcoming and inclusive event and will not allow any form of discrimination against anyone attending because of what they look like. This would be considered a violation of our Code of Conduct and you may be asked to leave.  If you have concerns, contact an Urban Librarians Conference organizer.

I have coronavirus, can I come to the conference?

Please don’t.
